Sandbox sims

Test-bed virtual worlds for experimentation and often creation or 'in-world' editing. These were widespread for the emerging ‘brain-wave’ or Neurocean interfaces. Some of them involved processes for entering and exiting their spaces, such as ‘slow-surfacing’, as used for the infamous ‘Boston Island’ sim that was closed down following an incident of virtual abuse and death.
